Ladies & Gentlemen, it’s the moment many of you have been waiting for – the Shambhala 2011 volunteer applications have been released!
YEAH! Before you run (er, click) off to fill out your application, finish reading this post – I’ve got some additional info for you that will help you in filling it out. 😉
For those of you who have not volunteered with us in a few years, we are no longer using http://www.shambhalastaff.com. Nor are we using system we used last year. So even if you have worked with us in the past, we need you to re-apply. You can note that you are a past volunteer, and tell us what team(s) you’ve worked on previously on your application.
Certificates, Training, Past Experience:
Be as specific as you can in these sections – it’ll help us place you most effectively! In the certificates section, please detail any schooling you have as well.
Upload a Photo:
We would like all potential 2011 volunteers to upload a photo of themselves for Shambhala ID creation purposes. It should be current photo of you, must contain no one but yourself, must be a headshot, and your face must not be obstructed in any way (sunglasses, hats). We want to see your lovely face. 🙂
Upload a Resume (Optional):
We now have a space to upload a resume. If you’d like to give us more information with your application, please include one.
30 Second YouTube Intro (Extra Credit!):
Want to give us a little more of a sense of who you are? Record a 30 second introduction video of yourself and upload it to YouTube. Title the video Shambhala Introduction. Copy and paste the video address into the space provided on the application.
(Please note this is the condensed version – full details on volunteering are on the Get Involved page. The link is at the bottom of this post)
Remember that you must be 19 or older and you must be able to legally work in Canada (either a Canadian Citizen, have permanent resident status, or be in Canada on a valid Canadian work visa) in order to volunteer.
Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be selected as a volunteer.
Our Human Resources coordinator, Lori Gunn, starts the first week of February. She will begin selecting volunteers and scheduling after that point.
Volunteers are asked to complete 3 x 8.5 hour shifts in exchange for free admittance to the festival, free early entry, and one meal per working shift.
Volunteer deposits must be in the form of a certified cheque or money order. Deposits sent before June 1st, 2010 are $210 (the average price of all ticket tiers). Deposits sent after June 1st are $300. Please do not send these until after you have been contacted by Human Resources. Make sure your name is written on your certified chequeor money order so that we know who’s it is! Your deposit is returned to you once we are able to confirm that you have completed your shifts. *More info on the Get Involved page.
Volunteers should be on site no later than 10am on Tuesday, August 2nd. Please plan your time off from work accordingly!
